The village Villar de Huergo is located in the Asturian east, belongs to the parish of Sevares, which in turn belongs to the council of Piloña. It is an isolated but very well connected village just 10 km away from the city council, Infiesto, another 10 km from Arriondas, 16 km from Cangas de Onis and just 55 km from Oviedo.
The village is located on the right bank of the river Piloña and has about 180 neighbors. It is a quiet town surrounded by green, where you can taste the Asturian rural life. To reach the village you must pass through a small bridge over the Tendi river, which flows into the river Piloña. We can differentiate the village in different districts: Cuei, Los Llanos, La’d go, La Puente, Llano del Rio, La Riera, Larrionda El Campo, El Soferán, Casa La Vega, El Corriellu, La Costina, La Collada, El Barrio and Faedo . In total 15 and with streets unnamed.
We highlight the chapel dedicated to Our Lady the Virgin of Corriellu, located in the district of El Corriellu. It’s from the seventeenth century, and the virgin has a stone image of the late thirteenth century, which is actually the only image of the seated Virgin and Child in the Principality of Asturias. During the period of the Spanish Civil War, it was hidden by neighbors in Pozaos cave, located between Caldevilla and the surroundings the Tendi river. The village festival takes place on the 8th of September.
If you don’t want to cook, at the same village of Villar there’s an restaurant-bar, LA ROCA next to the road, tel. 985706049, in addition to serving menus, they serve dishes to take home. It is a walk of 5 minutes. They have children’s area with trampoline, and also rent paddle court to play.
While there are no shops in the village of Villar de Huergo, a few minutes away walking or driving, towards Infiesto, we can reach the neighboring village of Sevares. From the NESTLÉ factory beyond, yu can find some.
Shops: bakery, confectionery, supplies, Caja Astur with ATM, kiosk and stationery, a small supermarket, a Church and outside the town gas station. There is also another restaurant serving menu called La Pergola.
Due to its good situation, those who stay in Casa Larrionda can enjoy both the magnificent beaches of the Cantabrian Sea and the mountains of the Cordillera Sueve, or the National Park Picos de Europa. It is also possible to practice many adventure sports.
